WATCH: Two arrested for allegedly looting Shoprite truck in Durban

Two people have been arrested after a Shoprite truck was looted between Newlands and KwaMashu, north of Durban.

Video footage taken of the incident on Monday shows scores of people making their way to the vehicle and helping themselves to its load.

KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says community members from Newlands East area had been protesting on Dumisani Makhaye Drive.
"The truck that was carrying grocery stuff en route to a mall was allegedly stopped by the protestors and was looted.

"KwaMashu police and other role player managed to disperse the crowd. The stolen property was recovered by police. The driver was escorted to a mall after the incident, and a case of public violence was opened by KwaMashu police for investigation."
