[WATCH] Zozibini Tunzi crowned Miss Universe

In the final round of questions, Tunzi spoke about her natural beauty, saying: "I grew up in a world where a woman like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never consider beautiful, and I think it's time that that stops today."

The reigning Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe in the early hours of Monday morning, South African time.

Tunzi competed along with women from 89 other countries.
The preliminary competition included the contestants’ national costume, an evening gown, and swimsuit.

An emotional Tunzi was overwhelmed with her victory.
In the final round of questions, Tunzi spoke about her natural beauty, saying: "I grew up in a world where a woman like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never consider beautiful, and I think it's time that that stops today."
Tunzi becomes only the third Miss SA to go on to become Miss Universe - Margaret Gardiner won the title in 1978 and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in 2017.
