Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde suspended the province’s MEC for Community Safety Albert Fritz on Sunday.

He is facing allegations of misconduct.
Winde says the allegations were brought to his attention over the past week.
“I have summoned the minister and informed him of the allegations and my decision to suspend him with immediate effect, which he has accepted.”
The premier did not disclose the nature of the allegations except that a full investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, GOOD party secretary-general Brett Herron has bemoaned the lack of detail provided by Winde.
“The premier should clarify whether the allegations relate to an issue of Fritz’s conduct in government or matters outside of government and of a personal nature. The premier should also announce who will be conducting the investigation he announced.
“The premier must provide reasonable access to information and answers and we call on him to clarify what the basis for the suspension.”
