The family of former Eskom chairperson and businessman Jabu Mabuza has described him as a man with an iron fist wrapped in a velvet glove.

Family, friends, and business colleagues paid tribute to Mabuza at his memorial service on Monday.
Mabuza passed away due to Covid-19 complications last week.
His children Lwazi, Sakhiwo, and Mbali Mabuza described him as a man who embraced and loved his culture.
"uBaba was tough, was built for tough, he ruled his house with an iron fist, but everything he did was with a velvet glove.
"Dad grounded us, was proud of his culture, he was proud where he came from," said the first-born, Lwazi.
Mabuza was widely praised as the man who modernised Telkom and was also appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa as the chairperson of Eskom in 2017.
His daughter Mbali remembered the teachings her father instilled.
"He taught me to be responsible, to prepare, and most importantly to be passionate about what I do.
"Baba, I promise to honour your memory by making sure we keep our holiday traditions, upholding my cultural duties and values, having relations with God, and protecting mom."
