“We will miss her greatly”, President pays tribute to Sibongile Khumalo

President Cyril Ramaphosa has sent out his message of condolences to the passing of opera singer and Jazz music legend, Sibongile Khumalo.

She passed away on Thursday after suffering “stroke related complications”.
Sibongile Khumalo was 63 years old.
“This is a moment of great sadness for all of us who were mesmerised and moved by the power, sensuality and improvisation of Sibongile Khumalo’s unique voice.
“Not only was she an unmistakable voice on concert stages around our country and the world, but she was a voice of advocacy for the performing arts, for the rights and place of women in our society, and for human rights at large.

“As a music academic, she was also a voice of instruction and inspiration to new generations of artists who had the privilege of learning from a performer who was at the pinnacle of her career.
“We will miss her greatly,” says spokesperson in the Presidency, Tyrone Seale.
Meanwhile the African National Congress (ANC) has also extended its condolences to the Khumalo family.
ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe says the governing party also joins the nation in paying tribute to Khumalo.
“(Khumalo) became a beacon of hope and who inspired many artists and individuals in our country.
“We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and fans. May they find solace in knowing that their loss is the nation's loss.”
