Woman jumps to death at Sandton City
Police in Gauteng have opened an inquest docket after a woman jumped to her death inside Sandton City Mall on Wednesday.
According to police spokesperson Mavela Masondo, the woman jumped from the eighth floor of the packed shopping mall.
The woman's identity remains unknown.
Mall management confirmed the incident occurred before 9pm.
"Emergency services responded to the scene immediately, but the individual has unfortunately been pronounced death. Police are investigating," officials said in a statement.
Eyewitnesses took to social media to describe the ‘horrific’ incident.
