Zuma takes Zondo battle to the High Court
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
Former President Jacob Zuma is challenging Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo’s decision to stay on as the chairperson of the commission of inquiry into state capture.

Last month the commission dismissed Zuma’s application for Zondo to recuse himself as chairperson.
In a dramatic twist of events, Zuma and his legal team then walked out of the proceedings, refusing to give testimony before the commission.
Now Zuma wants the decision by Zondo to be reviewed and set aside.
“I confirm that former president Jacob Zuma has approached the Gauteng High Court to review and set aside the ruling of Deputy Chief Justice Zondo to refuse to recuse himself from chairing his matters before the commission,” says Zuma’s lawyer, Erica Mabuza.
“The chair was incorrect in refusing to recuse himself.”
The standoff between the two men continues.
On Monday the Constitutional Court agreed to hear the commission's urgent application to force Zuma to testify.
But Zuma distanced himself from those proceedings as well.
The apex court will hear the commission’s application on December 29.
