Zwartkop substation repairs near completion
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
The City of Tshwane says the cable end box, which was the only missing component towards energising the Zwartkop Substation, has arrived on site.

The substation suffered major damage due to an explosion on Tuesday, which left various areas in Centurion and Pretoria East without electricity.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashego said the cable end box, which serves as a connector between the cables and the main transformer at the substation, had to undergo comprehensive modifications after suffering extensive damage during the fire.

“The city’s team of technicians is currently embarking on a lengthy installation process, after which the transformer will be energised,” said Mashego.
“The testing team will then do the final testing, and once the results are positive, the substation will be energised, at the latest by Tuesday midday."
