Al Ahly confirm José Riveiro as new head coach

Egyptian outfit Al Ahly has appointed former Orlando Pirates boss José Riveiro as their new head coach.

The Spaniard was granted an early release from his contract with the Buccaneers, departing with 80 wins, 26 draws and 26 defeats in 132 matches.
Riveiro will be thrown straight into the deep end with the FIFA Club World Cup starting on June 14 in the USA. Al Ahly, Africa's most successful club, are in Group A with Inter Miami, Palmeiras and FC Porto
The 49-year-old, who spent three years with Pirates, led the Soweto club to five knockout competition victories.
They were also runners-up in the past two Premierships.
"I will look back at my time with Pirates and in South Africa as special," he said at the time of his departure from Pirates.
"There are so many things I will miss about this beautiful country. I love Pirates' players, my technical team, the officials and the fantastic supporters who, I believe, also love me."
