Chippa boss confident Malesela will steer club to top eight finish

Chippa United boss Siviwe Mpengezi says he is confident that the return of head coach Dan Malesela will see the club return to winning ways.

Known as ‘Dan Dance’, Malesela was appointed on Sunday after the club rescinded the appointment of the controversial Belgian-born coach Luc Eymael last Thursday.
Malesela returns to football after he was shown the door by TS Galaxy after a poor start to the DSTV Premiership season.
Mpengezi says there was no pressure to reappoint Malesela.
“It was not a difficult decision to take because we have the backing of supporters and as you know that Dan is supporters’ favourite. We had to look at the squad that we have, and you know we have young ones, which is he is very good in coaching the young ones and has proven the record of working with the young ones.”
Malesela was fired as Chippa United coach during the 2018-19 season, but Mpengezi is confident that Malesela will revitalise the team.
“We wish him all the best and we know now that Chippa United is going to play that entertaining football and it will be a pleasure watching Chippa United, something that we have been missing for many years.
“Chippa United is a playing team but then now we were reduced to be a team that sits back and wait for a counter. We are very happy for him, we love him, we welcome him, and we wish him all the best.”
The club, which is currently languishing in 14th place on the log, has a stated aim of finishing in the top eight.
