Former players making good referees
Updated | By Trevor Cramer
Two recently retired rugby players, Egon Seconds and Jamie Nutbrown have made a successful transition to refereeing and both take charge of matches again in week 4 of the Super Rugby programme.

A trend is starting to emerge in the game of rugby.
It is becoming increasingly common, much like in the game of cricket, for former players to become umpires or referees.
Many high-profile cricketers and rugby players become successful media analysts and commentators due to their in-depth knowledge and understanding of the finer details of the game.
Others choose to become referees and umpires.
The SANZAAR referees panel for this week's fourth round of Super Rugby fixtures features two recently retired players who have made the step up into officiating the game.
In action this week will be former Stormers player Egon Seconds, who will referee the match between the Sharks and the Kings in Durban on Saturday
Former Bay of Plenty and Chiefs half back Jamie Nutbrown will take charge of the match in Pretoria between the Bulls and the Sunwolves on Friday evening.
The New Zealander will then be running the line in Saturday's clash between the Lions and the Reds at Ellis Park.
Another recently appointed whistle man, Argentinian referee Federico Anselmi, will get his second match of the year and will be in Melbourne for the Rebels versus Chiefs clash on Friday.
