The South African Football Association (SAFA) has appointed former winger Helman Mkhalele as Bafana Bafana assistant coach.

The association made the announcement at SAFA House in Johannesburg on Friday.
Mkhalele was part of the Bafana squad which lifted the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy in 1996.
“SAFA and Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos have appointed former Bafana Bafana winger Helman Mkhalele as the local assistant coach,” the association said in a statement.
The announcement followed after rumours that former coach Molefi Ntseki will serve as Bafana local assistant coach.
Broos will work with Yugoslavian Cedomir Javeneski and Mkhalele.
South Africa will begin its Africa World Cup qualifying campaign in September in Group G with Ghana, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.
