I want to inspire hope, says SA wheelchair tennis champ

South Africa's wheelchair tennis star, Kgothatso Montjane, says there is no time to celebrate her Wimbledon victory as she prepares for the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Wimbledon champion landed back on home soil on Monday morning after winning the wheelchair doubles at Wimbledon
Montjane told the media she is looking forward to flying the South African flag at the upcoming Paralympics in Paris
"Paralympics are coming, so the focus is directly shifting, so there is no moment to really indulge and celebrate this one. It’s time to really switch and move to the next one.
"It will be a different competition. I mean, anything can happen, and anyone stands a good chance to excel on those surfaces.”
-HOPE AND INSPIRATION -
Born in rural northern Limpopo, the wheelchair tennis star says her sole purpose is to spread hope and inspiration.
Montjane made history in 2018 when she became the first black South African woman to compete at Wimbledon.
"My message to everyone is just to give people. You know what I am doing is not easy. Picking up a racket at the age of 19 and getting thrown into the wolves has not been easy to navigate.
"For me, I just want to give others hope and inspire them to realise that they can also do it. Starting at 19 and playing at this level is unimaginable.
"I want most of them also to know that they can play sports, like tennis, regardless of their background.”
