SuperSport United star and former South Africa under-23 right winger Sameehg Doutie revealed his ambitions.
The 24-year-old SuperSport talent was once the only South African player selected among the Best Eleven players at the inaugural Caf Under-23 Championship.
Now Doutie feels he is ready to prove himself at senior national level. Some of the players that he played with at junior level include Thulani Serero, Kamohelo Mkotjo and Andile Jali.
“I am ready to play for Bafana Bafana. I feel I have worked hard enough from the junior ranks until now. That will all depend on the selectors as you know how things are done here. I am aware of the competition, but I believe that I am also the best at what I do. I cannot undermine my potential,” he said.
Doutie has been a key player at United after having come through at the Ajax Cape Town development structure.
“Things have been good. I have enjoyed my game a lot despite bad luck with injuries. The advantage this season is that I am working with Cavin Johnson who also was at Ajax Development at some stage. This makes my job easy because of the understanding we have,” he told Goal.com.
Doutie is putting his message out there to Bafana coach Gordon Igesund.
“I am not young anymore and things need to start adding up together. I will work hard until I get my chance at the national team. In the meantime I need to focus on excelling at club level and the rest will follow,” he said.
