SABC to show Champions League final between Chiefs, Al Ahly

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has been granted the rights to broadcast the CAF Champions League final between Kaizer Chiefs and Al Ahly.

The agreement follows an intervention by Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams.
Earlier, the public broadcaster said it won’t be able to show the game between two of the continent’s most popular clubs due to the fact that it was sold to subscription-based SuperSport.
But the issue was ironed out following a last-minute engagement between the public broadcaster and SuperSport.
"The minister engaged with both the SABC and MultiChoice to ensure an amicable resolution on the acquisition of the rights on the interest of the broad African public," the department said in a statement.
"The people of our country will now be able to watch this crucial game on a free-to-air platform."
Amakhosi will come up against the Egyptian giants in the continental showpiece in Morocco on Saturday.
The game will be live at 9pm at Stade Mohammed V Stadium.
