SABC, SuperSport reach agreement over PSL coverage

An agreement has been reached for Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches to return to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

At the beginning of the month, the public broadcaster announced that there would be no PSL matches on TV and radio due to a dispute over fees.
The agreement between MultiChoice Group, SuperSport and the SABC follows negations overseen by the Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Thursday evening.

"The agreement between SuperSport and the SABC is for five years and recognizes the need to maintain the financial sustainability of the PSL, as well as ensuring that the SABC delivers on its public mandate of serving the interests of South Africans in regards to sports,” the parties said in a statement.
"We remain committed to long-term investment in sports in South Africa and the rest of Africa.”
