SAFA loses bid to replay World Cup qualifier against Ghana

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has lost its bid for a rematch against Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers after a questionable penalty against Bafana Bafana.

Last month, South Africa lost a Group G decider 1-0 in Ghana, who converted a disputed penalty - leaving the national squad out in the cold.
Ghana were awarded the penalty when the Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye ruled that Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey had been pushed, but TV replays suggested the home player dived.
SAFA accused Ndiaye of match fixing.
Soon after, the organisation lodged a formal complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and football's world governing body FIFA.
But FIFA ruled against SAFA on Friday, dashing the country’s dreams of playing on the global stage in Qatar in 2022.
SAFA is yet to decide on its next move.
“We have received the decision without details and we will request FIFA for the reasons and consider our options,” said SAFA CEO,Tebogo Monthlante.
