Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is to have a road near Old Trafford named after him.
The road adjacent to the Old Trafford stadium is to be renamed Sir Alex Ferguson Way in honour of the club's long-serving manager who retired in May after nearly 27 years in charge.
Ferguson, who is now a director at the club, will also be given the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Trafford at a formal ceremony on Monday.
The 71-year-old told the club's website: "I am delighted to accept this from Trafford Council. When I arrived at Old Trafford in 1986, I had little idea of the journey that awaited me.
"Over quarter of a century later, to receive the Freedom of the Borough of Trafford, and to have a part of Trafford carrying my name, is truly humbling."
Another former United manager, the late Sir Matt Busby, also has a street named after him close to the stadium.
