Wet conditions greet Boks in Argentina
Saturday’s Test, at Velez Sarsfield, will be the Boks’ first encounter in the Argentine capital in almost a decade. The last time the South Africans played there, was in November 2005.
South Africa have enjoyed good fortune in Buenos Aires before, but Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer is under no illusions about the enormity of the task that awaits his team.
“We were not good enough last week and the Pumas deserve full credit for their performance,” said Meyer.
“Saturday’s Test will be a massive challenge and we simply have to fire on all cylinders.”
The Boks left Durban on Wednesday afternoon and travelled for approximately 24 hours to their hotel in Buenos Aires, which included a bumpy flight between Sao Paulo and Argentina.
They will have a light captain’s run at the Test venue on Friday and will return to South Africa on Sunday.
It was also decided to release Scarra Ntubeni from the squad that remained in Durban.
“Scarra has been working very hard in the last month or so and is familiar with how we play. After consultation with all relevant role players, we decided that it would be in his best interest to some game time in the Absa Currie Cup,” said Meyer.
