"Don’t try to be a hero" - Former Springbok legend tests positive for Covid-19
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Former Springbok Danie Gerber has tested positive
for the coronavirus and spoke to Martin Bester on the fourth day of the national lockdown.

South Africa is currently in a 21-day lockdown period and all citizens are ordered to stay at home.
Former Springbok Danie Gerber explained to Martin Bester he contracted the virus a few days ago.
"We were at the golf course. Everything was fine but when I went to bed that night my body was sore. I couldn't even touch my body with my finger. My fever was high and I decided to go to the doctor. Within 24 hours they told me I had the virus. I went into shock. It’s not a nice feeling," explained Gerber.

Gerber told Martin Bester about the remedies he is using during isolation in Blouwaterbaai.
"The big problem comes when you find out too late and it's in your chest. Fortunately, my chest is still okay. We drink a lot of Vitamin C and fluid. I've been steaming myself with hot water for years and that's what I do now. The virus can't handle heat and that's it."
One other Gerber family member also tested positive a day later for the coronavirus. Listen to the full conversation above.
Listen. Stay inside your home. Don’t try to be a hero. Think about your family.- Danie Gerber
