LOOK: Robbers use tunnel to rob bank

Criminals used a tunnel to break into a bank in Germiston.

This might sound like something straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster, but it’s actually just another day in South Africa.
Crime activist Yusuf Abramjee recently took to X to report a bank robbery that took place on Victoria Street in Germiston, East Rand.

In true movie style, the robbers used a tunnel to gain access to the bank.

They used grinders to open safes and made off with cash. CCTV cameras and alarm was deactivated. #CrimeWatch pic.twitter.com/f6beer4t0o
In his post, he added that CCTV cameras and alarms were allegedly deactivated.
The criminals made off with an unknown amount of cash after using a grinder to open the safes.
Colonel Mavela Masondo told Nuusflits that police are currently on the lookout for the suspects.

By the time the bank closed on Saturday, everything was seemingly still in order.
When staff returned on Tuesday after the public holidays, they discovered the robbery and reported it to the police.
Masondo said that part of the investigation is to understand exactly how the robbers gained access to the bank.
