If there's one thing all South Africans can relate to, it's potholes.

Countless South Africans have lost at least a few tyres over the years as the pothole crisis escalates.

At some point, we have all decided to take matters into our own hands, and that's precisely what happened in Moreleta Park in the City of Tshwane.

Volunteers gathered to patch up over fifteen potholes that had frustrated residents for months.

According to Rekord, the pothole repair drive spanned two days, covering several roads:

– beginning at the corner of Wekker Street and Rubenstein Drive
– moving through Van Bergen and Helios streets
– then circling back to Rubenstein, Picasso, and finally De Villebois Mareuil Drive near Moreleta Church

According to van Helsdingen and the Citizen, the potholes were reported on the 15th of July 2025.

This is not the first time communities have taken matters into their own hands; this issue has been present for fifteen years.

According to the Automobile Association (AA), there could be more than 25 million potholes on South African roads. This figure was shared by Eleanor Mavimbela, a spokesperson for the AA, who expressed her concern over the growing issue.
