Petrol attendant jumps on back of bakkie after driver speeds off
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
A petrol attendant jumped on the back of a bakkie after the driver tried to drive away without paying for fuel.

Crime has become rampant in South Africa, with criminals finding new tactics every day to commit crimes. In some cases, people even come up with creative ways to avoid paying for things.
Although it's not a new phenomenon, it's still shocking when someone drives off from a petrol station without paying.
But a recent video shared on the social media platform X shocked South Africans even more after a petrol attendant jumped on the back of a bakkie when the driver tried to skip payment.

The video shows the attendant closing the fuel cap of the bakkie and then walking toward the driver's window. It was at this moment that the driver sped off in an attempt to avoid payment.
Without hesitation, the petrol attendant jumped onto the back of the moving vehicle.

No further information about the incident is available at this time.
Although jumping on the back of a moving vehicle is unlikely to stop the criminal, it was probably an involuntary response to the situation.
But the bigger question is: was this an act of devotion to his job, or fear that he would be held responsible for the unpaid fuel?

South Africans also took to the comment section to share their thoughts:
"A petrol attendant risking his life to stop a fleeing driver says it all. Safety shouldn’t be optional. He feared salary deductions—this wasn’t bravery, it was survival."
"Things need to change. People should pay first. Aowa."
"I usually pay before they pour. I feel like everyone should do that, man."
"No number plates, no service. It's that simple."
