Ramaphosa's late-night land expropriation announcement keeps South Africans waiting
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
South Africans lost out on some shut eye on Tuesday as they waited with bated breath for President Cyril Ramaphosa's address to the nation.

We're used to such announcements being about bizarre cabinet reshuffles and not about land expropriation without compensation.
It seems the ANC has resolved to finalise a process to amend the Constitution to better outline how land expropriation without compensation will be effected. "It has become patently clear that our people want the constitution to be more explicit about expropriation of land without compensation," Ramaphosa said in a televised address.
The decision had been taken at the ruling party's NEC Lekgotla.

Some South Africans are not happy about being kept out of sleep, as well as the direction the ANC is taking, and you just have to jump on to social media to see why:

I believe Ramaphosa should be taking SA into his confidence more regularly, spelling out his thinking & policy but in a planned way, not 10pm "backdoor" communications. https://t.co/cYQgWdzfZU
