South African suburbs with the highest reports of hijackings
These South African suburbs have recently seen the highest number of reported hijackings.
The South African Police Service's (SAPS) latest quarterly crime statistics have revealed the suburbs with the most reports of hijackings for the first three months of 2025.
The report showed that the suburb of Ivory Park in Midrand, Gauteng, recorded the highest number of hijackings during the fourth quarter of 2024/25—January to March 2025.
According to BusinessTech, there has been a year-on-year decrease in the number of hijackings in South Africa. However, this doesn’t mean that the figure is not still alarmingly high.

Reports by SAPS indicated that 4,533 cars were hijacked during the three-month period.
As expected, based on the crime statistics report, Gauteng recorded the highest number of hijackings.

- Akasia
- Jabulani
- Moroka
KwaZulu-Natal:
- Umlazi
- Bhekithemba
