If you live in Pretoria North or surrounding areas, brace yourself for some dark days ahead.

The City of Tshwane has announced that parts of the area will be without electricity for up to three days this week, as essential maintenance and testing are underway at the Wolmer and K1 substations.

From Monday, 17 June to Wednesday, 19 June, technicians from the city's Energy and Electricity Department will conduct planned audits and efficiency tests to help improve the power supply in the long run.

According to IOL, the K1 Substation will have no power on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Areas affected:

Meanwhile, in a separate issue on Tuesday, a 132kV trip at the Wapadrand Substation caused outages in Wapadrand, Equestria, Silver Lakes, Silverwoods Country Estate, Willow Acres, and nearby areas.

Technicians have been dispatched to investigate and restore power as quickly as possible, but reports show that the power was still out as of Wednesday, 18 June.
