Many people have weird food combinations - what's yours?
South Africa is famous for many different types of food, born from the country's diverse cultures. So, when people try to change these or combine them with what others might deem "strange," it can spark controversy.
The most recent food combo to send TikTok into a frenzy is the beloved koesister paired with cheese.
A koesister (not to be confused with a koeksister) is a famous South African dessert made from sweet dough that is deep-fried and coated in coconut.

Although it is often enjoyed in many ways, depending on a person's preferences, its latest combo with cheese was just too much for some people.
TikTok user @ismaeel.bagus sent users on the platform into a frenzy after his video of combining cheese and a koesister went viral on the video-sharing platform.
In the video, Bagus breaks off a piece of cheese, puts it on top of a koesister, and eats it.
He also shared that this is a food combination that he and his family have enjoyed for years.

"My family’s 'weird' combo is a koesister with cheese! It's so lekker," he wrote.

While many users could see how the sweet and salty combination might work, others were not too fond of the idea.
"This seems illegal in the Cape Coloured community. A koesister must only go with coffee or tea," said one user.
"We listen and we judge a little," commented another.
