WATCH: Man assaulted with paintball gun in Middelburg
There have been two reports of a person assaulting residents with a paintball gun.
A video showing a man being chased by a bakkie while being assaulted with a paintball gun has shocked Middelburg residents.
The video, which was anonymously sent to the Middelburg Observer, shows CCTV footage of the victim running down a street, screaming.
As the man is seen running down the street, screaming in pain and fear, a double-cab bakkie can be seen driving slowly behind him, allegedly firing shots at the man with a paintball gun.

According to the Middelburg Observer’s anonymous source, the incident occurred on Buller Street, Dennesig.
CCTV footage confirmed that the incident happened on May 14 at around 2:43 in the morning.

This wasn't the first attack of its kind.
Another man, 38-year-old Mervin Da Costa, claims that he was also attacked with a paintball gun, which he alleges was done by members of a local community watch group.
Da Costa has urged the public to assist him in identifying the attackers.
According to the 38-year-old, the incident occurred while he was walking to the Sasol Garage at 11:30 pm on Springbok Street.
While walking, he was approached by a white Toyota Etios and a charcoal grey Ford Ranger.

He alleges that the driver of the Ranger then asked him where he was headed and, after confirming he was going to the garage, the perpetrator pulled out a paintball gun and started shooting at him.
Da Costa said the man was short and stocky, with dark hair and a beard. He also added that the attacker is a member of a local community watch group.
During the ordeal, the victim was also assaulted with fists.
A case has been opened at the Middelburg Police Station.
