A video showing a man surfing on a flooded street has left South Africans in stitches.

On South African roads, you're bound to see the unexpected – from waste pickers "driving" their trolleys to people hitching rides by holding onto the roofs of moving vehicles.
But the latest roadside spectacle has truly taken things to another level.

A video, shared by TrafficSA on X, shows a man embracing the country's heavy downpours by surfing behind a car on a waterlogged road.
He uses the waves created by the car's tyres to stay afloat and keep moving.
Passengers in the car behind him quickly pulled out their phones to capture the unusual scene.
The video, which was allegedly taken in Stellenbosch, ends with the man jumping off his surfboard. The car behind him has to stop abruptly to avoid hitting him.
