South African ads are just unmatched…

There has been quite a bit of public uproar over the Springboks squad's new training kit sponsored by Pick n Pay.
Keeping with the green and gold, although slightly brighter, the jerseys also feature a new pattern. However, it was really the Pick n Pay logo that upset fans.

The all-too-familiar logo was added to the jersey with a bold white background, looking quite out of place.

Another retail giant in South Africa, Checkers, took advantage of the controversial jersey design with some light-hearted fun.
On Saturday, 28 June, Checkers took to social media with a subtle jab at Pick n Pay's Springbok kit design.
In a hilarious skit posted online, a Checkers employee gives his manager some “constructive” feedback on the national team’s new kit.
"The response to the new kit is not great," he starts.
"Someone told me it looked like a bumper sticker… but on the front! And honestly, it seems like it was designed in paint… during load shedding."

The post was captioned: "We’re backing our boys no matter what."
Without mentioning their name, Checkers managed to throw some light-hearted shade at their competitor.
