A recent apartment sale has broken the record for the most expensive apartment ever sold in South Africa.
Cape Town continues to be one of the most sought-after locations for real estate among the ultra-wealthy, with Clifton, in particular standing out as a premier destination.
The city’s luxury property market has reached new heights, with a jaw-dropping R145 million apartment recently sold.

This sale not only proves Cape Town's appeal to the rich and international investors but also cements Clifton’s reputation as one of South Africa’s most desirable areas for high-end real estate.
The five-bedroom apartment along Clifton's 1st Beach boasts top-of-the-line finishes and breathtaking ocean views for which the Atlantic Seaboard is renowned.

According to the Sunday Times, the sale was brokered by Lance Cohen of Lance Real Estate, who confirmed that the buyer is a former South African now residing in Monaco.
Cohen proudly stated that the sale "represented the record for the highest price paid for an apartment in South Africa", adding that the previous benchmark stood at R120 million.
Currently, homes in Clifton are generally listed between R30 million and R60 million, making this latest deal especially remarkable, even in a neighbourhood accustomed to extravagance.

Cohen is no stranger to selling luxury properties. According to The Citizen, he's currently marketing a six-bedroom mansion in Fresnaye for R75 million, as well as a four-bedroom stunner in the same area listed at R95 million.
However, the R145 million record may not last long. A five-bedroom house in Clifton is currently on the market for R160 million, and if it sells, Cohen may soon be rewriting the record books once again.
