What my daughters really think about my love life
Updated | By Philicity Reeken
Ever wondered what your kids really think about your dating life? I did, so I asked them. In this episode of Love, Dating & Chaos, things get personal as I sit down with my daughters for a conversation I won’t forget.

This week, I thought to myself, there are a few people who really know me. And then there are two young women who know me the best (yes, I know that’s not a word… but we're going with it).
I'm talking about my daughters, Simone [22] and Zhara [20].

Becoming a mom to them shaped who I am as a person. So I thought, why not sit down with them and pick their brains about something a little personal: me, and specifically, me dating.

We talk about my dating life, my experiences, and yes, even my marriage. (If you didn’t know, I was married. We’ve been divorced for a long time now.)
I figured it would be fine, because they love me. And also, they kind of have to be nice to me… I’m their mom. We can only hope.

Previously on Love, Dating and Chaos, we talked about audacity—the kind that pushes you to speak your truth and chase what your heart really wants, even when it’s messy. I was joined by Shantelle Engelbrecht from Coloured Girls Rock, a powerhouse Facebook community that’s become a safe space for the coloured community to share, support and sometimes overshare the wildest stories.
We unpacked what it means to be bold, honest, and unapologetically real. Trust me, it’s a conversation that might just change your mind.
