Rand Water's planned maintenance work is currently underway, affecting water supply in areas of Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni.

The maintenance focuses on critical upgrades to the Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes systems. Some residents may experience low water pressure or complete outages during this period.

"Residents may experience poor pressure or no water during the maintenance period. However, arrangements will be made for alternative supply to affected areas," the utility confirmed.

Rand Water's planned maintenance is set to run from 30 June to 2 July, but water supply may be affected for much longer.

"Remember that the system will take time to recover once the maintenance work is completed," Johannesburg Water warned in a Facebook post.

"Water supply is not restored immediately as the system needs to build capacity. Low-lying areas recover first, while high-lying areas may take longer."

As pumping capacity has been reduced at the Eikenhof, Zwartkopjes, and Palmiet systems, the utility has deployed water tankers to affected areas.
