This is why you should not wash your jeans, according to Levi's
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
CEO of Levi's, Chris Bergh, says he has not washed his favourite pair of jeans in the past 10 years.

Chris Bergh has gone viral after he said that you should never wash your jeans in a washing machine, because it wears down the material.
If you need to clean your jeans, spot-clean them if there's a particular stain, or in worst-case scenarios, hand wash them when they need a quick freshen up.

Mr Bergh mentioned that if you talk to real denim aficionados, they will all agree you should never put your jeans in the wash: "I spot clean my jeans when they need to be washed. Worst case, I hand wash my jeans. And I do it myself. I mean I love my jeans, and I take good care of them."
He also mentioned that putting them out in the sun to get some air will work wonders.
Of course, it depends on where you're wearing your jeans. Martin mentioned that he spot cleans his jeans. However, he washes them when he performs in smokey pubs.
Liesl prefers to wash her jeans, three to four times a month. She also prefers to hang her jeans out, especially her black jeans.
