This chihuahua walked through mountains and snow to alert authorities that his owner was in danger.

Air Zermatt, a Swiss helicopter rescue company, released a statement telling the story of a hero dog.

A man was travelling on the Fee Glacier above Saas-Fee when he suddenly broke through a snow bridge and fell into an eight-metre deep crevasse.

This led to "an extraordinary mission".

After his fall, it was his little chihuahua that saved his life.

While the man was stuck, his small dog was left on the edge, and the victim used an amateur walkie-talkie to call for help. The Air Zermatt team localised the exact location, but finding the hole on the wide glacial surface was proving difficult.

Then one of the rescue specialists noticed movement: it was the little chihuahua. Thanks to the dog never leaving his owner's side, the team located the hole and successfully rescued the fallen hiker.
