Here's a list of the top Chinese cars available in SA
If you are in the car market, you might want to consider these models, which start as low as R269,900.
You are not the only one who has noticed an influx of Chinese cars into the South African market.

According to the latest TransUnion Vehicle Price Index for Q4 2024, "the South African automotive sector experienced a cautious recovery, influenced by improved macroeconomic factors.
"The report highlighted that interest rate cuts, lower inflation, and a stronger rand contributed to increased consumer confidence and enhanced vehicle affordability."

Despite positive developments, rising costs and shifting financing trends continued to shape the market, and affordability has become a primary concern.
Enter the Chinese brands.
An analysis by BusinessTech found that vehicles from Asia, such as Chery and Suzuki, have seen massive growth over the last decade.
Suzuki and Chery collectively sold 7,699 units in 2014, which increased to 76,020 (a whopping 887%) in 2024.

As of May 2025, 41 Chinese passenger cars, most of them SUVs, are available in South Africa.
There are, however, a few bakkies.
The cheapest model is the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro SUV, which starts at R279,900, and the most expensive is the MG Cyberster, an all-electric two-door convertible sports car with a starting price of R1,399,990.

On the list, 12 cars are priced under R400,000 and 20 cars under R500,000.
