Some of the biggest names in South African politics and comedy gathered under one roof on the evening of 2 May to witness a spectacle unlike any other.

The audience was on the edge of their seats as they waited for the 'Showmax Roast of Helen Zille' to begin.
The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) federal chairperson put herself in the hot seat and comedians, reality stars, journalists and other panellists opened fire.
The roastmaster was the formidable Trevor Gumbi, and his co-roastmaster for the evening was the stunning Tumi Morake.

All the attendees and roasters came dressed to the nines, but one person captured most of the spotlight in her sparkling number.
Melany Viljoen turned heads in her sparkly jumpsuit that, according to News24, was embroidered with over 8,000 Swarovski crystals.

The 'Real Housewives of Pretoria' star said she wanted to give "a Kim Kardashian vibe" with her look and it cost her only R55,000.

While Mel was a shimmering star, Zille also dressed the part.
In a social media post ahead of the event, she showed off her pink dress and dance moves while making her way to the Roast.
