Unfortunately, when something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

These risks include overheating, fires and product failures.

Multiple reports have been received of units from specific brands, such as Magic Chef, Cosori, Secura, and Empower, bursting into flames, shattering mid-use, or melting.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has repeatedly issued warnings and maintained a list of affected models, but the recall follows a surge in global safety complaints.

According to The South African, the largest recall involves 280,000 Insignia air fryers after consumers reported dangerous flames emanating from the appliances.

Magic Chef recalled over 11,700 units due to defective components overheating, and Tower Air Fryer recalled models that posed a fire risk due to non-compliance with electrical safety regulations.

Other common defects include glass panels spontaneously shattering, plastic components melting and faulty wiring.

Some consumers claimed their devices would spark or smoke without warning, often on their first use.

With the rapid expansion of the air fryer market, analysts attribute the spike in recalls to the lack of quality control.

Consumers are advised to check their model numbers and serial numbers against the official recall lists.
