SA School Sports recently revealed its ranking of the top-rated Top Boys' Sports Schools of 2024.
Sport is quite possibly what South Africans are most passionate about (that and braaing), and school sports often have equal support.
Parents, teachers, and students alike can become extremely passionate about school sports due to the extreme cultural significance of sports in South Africa.

For nearly two decades, SA School Sports has taken it upon itself to embrace the competitive spirit of school sports by ranking the Top Boys' Sports Schools.
"Our rankings reflect a comprehensive analysis, balancing performance across six major sports: Rugby, Cricket, Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, and Water Polo," wrote SA School Sports.
"The factors used include, strength of opposition, actual result (W/L/D), margin of victory, margin of defeat, etc."
As rugby is recognised as one of the most popular and widely played sports in boys’ schools its value is double-weighted when considering the points.
Given the high participation in Cricket, Hockey, and Soccer, its value has a 1.5 weight.
Original values are attributed to Basketball and Water Polo.

According to SA School Sports, they only focus on these six popular sports as other popular sports like Athletics, Tennis, and Rowing don’t have consistent metrics.
"It is imperative to acknowledge that our rankings favour schools that have demonstrated consistency across all designated sports rather than those excelling in a singular discipline."
