The rapid dissemination of food-related content on social media has led to an accelerated cycle of food trends, with even seemingly unusual concepts gaining significant attention.

The last viral condiment trend was about 'pink sauce', with people worldwide trying to recreate it.

The latest sauce to grab people's attention? Well, it's not a sauce at all but rather a condiment that went from a liquidish form to a 'solid'.

Mayonnaise is a creamy, spreadable condiment made from oil, egg yolks, vinegar or lemon juice, and other seasonings. 

Through the emulsification process, the oil binds with the water-based ingredients.

The science here helps us understand its characteristics and why handling and storing it properly is essential.

Which is why people were shocked to see that mayonnaise slices now exist.

The video, posted by @thevulgarchef on TikTok, shows him making a sandwich with mayonnaise slices, similar to cheese slices.

While some people have taken to social media to express their astonishment and bemusement, others have shared their thoughts on the unconventional concept.

Viewers were shocked, confused, and some were delighted.

Taylorr_285 is done with this trend: "If I ever bite into SOLIDIFIED mayo, I will crash out"

Usanele could not make sense of it: "What's next? A slice of water?!"

Salmonella_bubblegutz 
thought it was a good idea: "I mean, in theory it would be great for packing a lunch and you don’t want mayo to make the bread soggy."

Luckily, or unluckily for some, this product is not available in any store. It was a fun test @thevulgarchef cooked up with the brand Duke's Mayo.
