While we don't ride around on elephants and lions, some dangerous wildlife can be found in our backyards.

Most South Africans tend to be on the lookout for snakes or monkeys, but there are the occasional BIGGER threats.

Residents in Gordon's Bay, Cape Town, were recently shocked when they found a stranger visiting their neighbourhood.

According to a Facebook video, an elephant seal made an unexpected detour and ended up in the middle of the street.

Drivers and onlookers were shocked to see the ocean beast making its way down the street, while the animal also seemed slightly confused.

The seal even took a little break by resting its head on one of the cars.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA shared an update on the situation and more details on how they will assist in a "coordinated rescue plan":

Hopefully, the elephant seal will make a safe return to his natural habitat.
