The Atterbury Trust matched the donation of We Buy Cars last week with another R50 000,00 for Harmonie-oord. The Atterbury Trust has also reached out to their friends at Vibro Bricks, who accepted their challenge and will also donate  R50 000,00 to Harmonie-Oord. That’s a total of another R100 000,00!

BACKGROUND: Harmonie-Oord Old Age Home in Sunnyside provides a safe, self-catering and self-sustained refuge to 193 senior citizens, who can only afford to pay the minimum from their SASSA pension for a place to stay. Residents in this 7-storey building often only have their old age pension and are reliant on state medical and other care. Although this is a self care home, many of the residents are frail, use walking frames, crutches or are in wheelchairs.

A lift is a vital luxury in this home, as the residents have to get to the communal laundry, dining area, as well as make their regular trips to health care facilities. Harmonie-Oord has two small lifts, however the one completely broke down and the other has been out of order often. These fragile seniors do not have any income to spare on the repair of the lifts. The home itself supplies breakfast from donations and tries to fulfil immediate needs, but does not have the budget to cover the R50 000,00 cost. That’s why some listeners turned to Good Morning Angels.

ORIGINAL REQUESTS:

REQUEST 1:

Goeie Dag,

Baie dankie,

Lindie van Tonder

REQUEST 2:

 Liewe Good Morning Angels

Groete
Marlien de Kock
