South Africans are furious after being told that on the 31st of December 2020, everyone should be at home, sleeping.

“There is no December 31st. There won't be any hitting of tins here. By 9 o'clock everyone should be in bed. So it is important to note that for that to happen we need to monitor that.” - Minister Bheki Cele said while speaking at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, outside Durban, on Wednesday.
This comes after the president Cyril Ramaphosa announced that South Africa will head back to amended level 3 lockdown regulations, with curfew being extended from 21:00 to 06:00.

South Africans took to social media platforms to express their anger and disapproval of what the minister of police said.
He also added that there would be consequences for individuals who break curfew or are found to be drunk.
“Make sure that you lock them in! Usually, you help them and show them home. This time we will give them a home. Our stations may be full, but we will make room for them,” said the Minister.
