Man uses fire extinguisher to try and douse the Olympic flame

As the Olympic torch makes its way to the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics, someone tried to extinguish it. 

The Olympic torch relay is a time-honored tradition and began in April this year as we lead up to the opening of the games on the 5th of August.


While on its final leg in Brazil a man attempted to douse the flame with a fire extinguisher.  No explanation has been given for the attempt, however it was unsuccessful.

This is unfortunately not the only incident the Olympic Torch has encountted this year.
