Family uses wink emoticon to announce death of their mother

Described as a character and great mother, 75-year-old Carmen Bustamante Barango was no ordinary woman and her funeral announcement proved just that. According to reports, the family claims the granny told them she wanted to be remembered in a local newspaper, El Periodico de Catalunya, using her favorite symbol, and that’s exactly what she got. Her children used a wink emoticon to announce her death in the paper on Saturday.
Barango reportedly died at her home on Friday. “She was a character and a great mother who never stopped being a child,” her son Roman Zabal was quoted as saying in the publication.
The mother, who loved to use the emoticon during her chats on WhatsApp with her children, also asked the family not to use any religious symbol on her obituary. “She wasn’t religious and told us that, if any [religious] symbols appeared, she would come back to life and come looking for us,” Zabal told the publication.
