Hyena punishes elderly buffalo bull with vicious bite
A wily hyena spotted a vulnerable buffalo bull and decided to bite him where it would hurt most.
An evening out in the bush with a small group ended with Sian Green, a freelance guide, spotting a hyena walking up behind an old buffalo bull and, sensing its vulnerability, waited for the perfect moment to bite it between the legs.
Sian says the buffalo had just managed to fight off a pride of lions.
The buffalo had previously used a special call that would alert fellow buffaloes to its suffering. Unfortunately, the call alerted the hyena instead. Sian described the tense moment: "A very brave hyena must have heard the commotion and came to see what was going on. The hyena carefully approaches the tired-out buffalo bull ... Even though the buffalo thought he won against a pride of lions, mother nature wasn't done with him [sic]".
Apparently catching a second wind after fighting with the lions, the buffalo gathers enough strength to shake the pesky hyena off.
