Economist Dawie Roodt sheds some light on expectations for the upcoming Budget Speech

Chief Economist of Efficient Group, Dawie Roodt, joined us live in studio this morning to speak about the much anticipated Budget Speech that is to be delivered by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan later today. He reflected on a few changes he thinks we can expect as consumers and how South Africans can use their money more effectively.

Earlier this morning we were joined by Economist Dawie Roodt. Roodt is a well known Economist who specializes in fiscal and monetary policy. Dawie reflected on the anticipated budget speech that is to be delivered by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan later this afternoon.
A few of the burning questions and possible 'fears' on consumers' minds is the possible increase in the personal tax percentage. This, among other factors, such as the possible increase in sin tax as well as a higher percentage of VAT are all up for discussion.

Dawie also reflected on the meaning behind 'junk status' and what it means if we had to be declared 'junk status' as a country.
