It's payday for many South Africans, and that generally means a weekend filled with shopping, running errands, and being out and about.

While that may be fun, some would rather spend their weekends nesting with the family.

Going from shop to shop and running errands can be tiring when you're competing with thousands of other families at the same time.

We've got the ideal plan for you, one that doesn't include going to a packed shopping mall.

1. Online shopping

Thankfully, there's no need to stress about grocery shopping with the plethora of online shopping apps available. Instead of going out, waiting in long queues, and struggling to find parking, why not 'add to cart' and check out your online shopping

If there are items that you cannot get online, then keep a list of those items for the weekdays.

2. Online banking or cellphone banking

This is tricky despite technological advancements and banking apps because some people still go into the bank to make payments. Switch to online banking and save time by paying your accounts online.

Just watch out for scammers and never share your personal information with anyone on the phone or someone you don't trust.

3. Move solo, leave the troops at home

Most parents would agree that shopping alone is always the best option. If you can, then leave the little ones at home with your spouse, the nanny or their grandparents, who they haven't visited since last month. This allows you to get your shopping done quickly and efficiently.

If these don't suit you or your family, the best we can say is to leave early.
