Another classic 'Only in SA' video shows how resourceful South Africans are.

South Africans have a way of bringing a unique flavour to things, and we don't just mean food, but also the steps taken when preparing food.

Thanks to load-shedding and water-shedding over the years, we've become avid preppers and planners. Our heritage and cultural history have also taught us a thing or two about always being prepared for anything.

This may be where the idea posed by a Cape Town woman on TikTok stemmed from. We've all had that moment before supper time when you realise the chicken is still in the freezer. Even the creatives at Mr. D acknowledged how often people forget to defrost the chicken.

Tazz Parker shared how she defrosts her chicken, without microwave or any water.

She shared a video showing her packs of frozen chicken hanging on the washing line. She praised her method as a proudly South African approach to frozen chicken, not to mention her ability to take full advantage of the Cape Town sun.

Her efforts amused some people, while others cautioned that this might not be the best idea if you have pets around. Some even joked and called it 'online shopping'.

One person wrote, "Till someone decides to do online shopping." Another agreed, saying, "Never, they do online shopping in our neighbourhood."

Another said, "That’s the fastest way to make it go off. The correct way is to defrost it in the fridge overnight so that the bacteria don’t get a chance to flourish and multiply."
