Hack that got Cape Town friends out of paying R150 parking

Cape Town is exclusive, but R150 for a parking ticket at a shopping centre is extreme.

Two friends shared how parking tariffs at a shopping centre got them thinking out of the box.

South African model Jaden Hoedemaker shared how he was surprised to see the pricing breakdown at a shopping centre parking lot in Cape Town. It is not uncommon to hear about how expensive things are in the Mother City, but this seemed unjustifiable.

Jaden shared how the price breakdown worked, all while not mentioning the shopping centre's name.

Someone parking in the parking lot could expect to pay R10,00 for 0-2 hours. For 2-3 hours, the price escalated to R20,00 but then for 3-6 hours, it jumped to R150,00.

Sometimes, shoppers can expect to spend 3-6 hours at the mall. In addition to shopping, you can also choose to dine, which may take over three hours. Imagine returning to your pay station to find you owe R150,00 for parking!

The unjust payment breakdown led to Jaden and his friend leaving the parking lot and returning to take advantage of their time and the lower parking tariff.
